About

Klaatu barada nikto. That’s an example of the power of words, even if they don’t make sense.

I’ve been fascinated by the nexus of science, technology and writing (or maybe make-believe) for years. Originally I wanted to be an astronaut and then I decided to be a science fiction writer. So I did the logical thing – I got a physics degree and went  to work for the semiconductor industry as an engineer.

Over the next few years, I picked up a patent for a semiconductor processing innovation and worked for a startup. Unlike all those people you hear about, I didn’t become a millionaire. So I left the semiconductor industry and again did the logical thing: I became a freelance science and technology writer.

I’ve been freelancing, off and on, for more than two decades. I still plan to write that great American science fiction novel, but, again, I might do the logical thing.
